The stand of Ghana shows the alteration work of Volta, which establish prerequisites in the agricultural and industrial expansion of the country.

These works aim at the production of big quantities of electricity intended for the industry and for the domestic use. At first, the produced energy is 512 000 kilowatts, with a supplementary capacity of 15 percent. The possible increase can go to 883 200 kilowatts.

Besides, the dam of Volta created one of the biggest artificial lakes of the world; its waters recover 4 percent of the national territory. This work, besides improving considerably the transport by waterways inside the country, allows the irrigation of lands, facilitate the freshwater fishing and the tourism.
