Fifty contemporary sculptors are represented each by a single outstanding work in the International Exhibition of Contemporary Sculpture.

This outdoor display is in the park on Ile Sainte-Hélène, close to the United States Pavilion, which also is the site of Expo's Rose Garden.

An international jury made recommendations on works for exhibition, and the final choice was governed by the factors that the world should be represented as widely as possible.

There was regard not only to the quality of the works as art, but also to their suitability for open ais display. The end result is that visitors can appreciate against natural surrounding a fine display of one of the most dynamic art forms of the century.

The countries represented in the display inculde the USSR, Czechoslovakia, Japan, and argentina. Sculptors actively at work number thirty and include Calder, Lardera, Moore, Heiliger, Chillida, Teshigahara: those who have died and are represented include Rodin, Gonzalez, Lehmbruck, Brancusi, Richier and Giacometti.
