Israel Pavilion
The Israel Pavilion tells the dramatic story of the dynamic rebirth of a nation which, after some 2000 years of adversity, has regained its sovereignty and freedom in its homeland.
The two-level building is of novel design, with cubist walls and geometrically patterned roof, surrounded by a landscaped Biblical garden.
It is situated on Ile Notre-Dame, adjoining the station of the Expo-Espress.
A ramp leads from the entrance hall to the upper level display area. A 250 seat auditorium for the screening of Israeli Films as well as for song and dance performances is situated on the lower level. Adjoining the auditorium is a restaurant serving Kosher meals.
The entrance hall introduces visitors to Ancient Israel. A complete dead sea scroll dominates the exhibits of archeological treasures.
The lofty central hall is devoted to the challenges and achievements of Israel.
Areas are also devoted to the cultural revolution and the dramatic revival of Biblical Hebrew as a spoken language, the heritage of youth - rich tradition blending with scientific and technological advence and Israel's technical aid to developing countries.
Examples of Israeli products and arts and crafts are also displayed.
